Well last time I've checked, cracked versions of Forest Pack still suffer from the same problem as before - to be more precise randomlyoccasionally disappearing forest pack objects which tend happen during scene saving making it very hard to notice until you open that scene the next day and shit your pants realizing that the deadline is tomorrow and all your thoroughly setup vegetation is gone to some sort of software hell )) - well as it was for years with it's cracked versions, thus making it totally unreliable in commercial work at least in my book. Actually the best approach is to combine both surface reconstruction from isoline data using either Splineland or even 3ds max's ugly terrain or way less ugly populate terrain's one as a base and photogrammetry generated model on top for easiest and most accurate tree, bush and some existent buildings (if those are present there too) separation from that photogrammetry made model, but that's another topic )). Well I totally agree - when there is a budget and time, then yeah, aerial photogrammetry does wonders, except for the tree covered areas which, for obvious reasons, can be a real pain to deal with. Without SplineLand it is almost impossible to achieve such accurate results in 3ds Max. SplineLand is a plugin for Autodesk 3ds Max that helps to generate topographically accurate terrains from a set of splines and lay roads.
